Hello, friends. I’m back! I took a few weeks off from these weekly updates but I’m looking forward to connecting with y’all again each Monday.

IN MY HOME:
REVIEW OF LAST WEEK
Monday…
This was Memorial Day and the guys were both off work. As I recall, I just puttered about, washed the sheets and watered houseplants. For dinner we grilled hamburgers.
Tuesday…
I had a Zoom call, did some dusting and laundry. For dinner I made a Taco Frito Salad which really hit the spot with all three of us.
Wednesday…
Around lunchtime David needed a break so he offered to take me to town to get burgers from our favorite local drive-thru and then we went to the local nursery to pick out some plants for our front flower bed. We’ll be planting in layers so we started with the taller plants for the back. It looks really good so far and I hope we can find time to get the next set of plants this week.
For dinner we had stir fried veggies, rice, wontons and fresh strawberries.
Thursday…
I had a Zoom call, took some things to my mom, mailed some condolence and thank you cards, and did the usual daily housekeeping tasks.
I made Mediterranean Turkey and Vegetable Skillet for dinner and because that was so healthy, we indulged in some chocolate chip ice cream for dessert.
Friday…
I did the daily housework, laundry, etc. and daily office tasks. I had planned to make spaghetti and meatballs for dinner but when David offered to go pick up something I eagerly agreed. He went to our favorite Italian restaurant to pick it up. I ordered something I hadn’t seen on the menu before and it was SO good! The portions are huge so I just put half on my plate and saved the rest. Chris had it for dinner the next night.
Saturday…
I caught up on folding and putting away laundry, tidied the house and vacuumed the traffic areas downstairs. We picked up our 3 year old granddaughter, Charlotte, at about 5 p.m. with the idea we’d have dinner at Sonic, go to the park so she could ride the carousel and then to our house. But she was SO eager to go to our house that we just picked up the food, skipped the park and went straight home. She played with her doll that I had bought new clothes for, threw rocks in the pond, watered our new plants, drew on the white board, played the piano, drove “Grampa’s truck” around the driveway several times (in Grampa’s lap, of course) and just generally had a great time. And so did we!
Sunday…
We were both in recovery mode this day. David had hurt his hip the other day and I encouraged him to just take it easy and not overdo. I washed the sheets and remade the bed, did a little ironing, watered houseplants and did some blog-related work. But for the most part we sat in our chairs in the library and just had a slow day.
THIS WEEK
David’s birthday is Wednesday. I have a couple Zoom calls. I plan to get the patio cleaned up and hopefully buy some plants for it.

SELF CARE

HEALTH & FITNESS
I recently bought walking pad treadmill and want to use it get in more daily steps. I’m also aiming to include more fresh produce in my daily diet.
FUN ACTIVITIES
We plan to meet with friends for after dinner drinks on Wednesday to celebrate David’s birthday. If the kids are available I’d like to have a little party for him on Saturday or maybe Sunday, depending on people’s schedules and the weather.
