THIS WEEK WITH DEE
I was saddened to hear of Jimmy Buffett’s death. David and I got to see him in concert in 2019 and I’m so glad! My cousin’s husband is the President of Margaritaville Alcohol Beverage Trust and had the privilege of working for Jimmy for the past 20 years or so. It sounds like he was genuinely a nice guy. I know his music gave pleasure to many over the years. Let’s enjoy his music while planning the week ahead.

IN MY HOME:
REVIEW OF LAST WEEK
This past week was a bit short as we didn’t get back from Kansas City until Monday night. Honestly I didn’t get much more than the regular day-to-day tasks done. I guess all the August travel really took it out of me because I’ve been really tired.
I did a fairly good-sized grocery haul Thursday. Throughout the pandemic I’ve been getting my groceries delivered but I decided to do this one myself if the store wasn’t busy. It was the last day of the month so I figured most people would be out of money. I figured right. I only saw two other shoppers in the whole store!
We’ve just been taking it easy over this holiday weekend. I sent out the monthly LWD newsletter this morning and as soon as I finish this I’m planning to call it quits until dinner time. For some silly reason, David and I couldn’t sleep last night and were both awake until nearly 2:30 a.m. If we had slept in late that would have been fine but we were awake around 7. Yawn…
THIS WEEK
I’ve got two Zoom meetings this week and I’m taking my daughter to a doctor appointment Wednesday. One of the things I hope to complete this week is a cleaning routine for fall/winter.
WORK
I’ll be planning and outlining posts for the month of September this week. I’m trying to develop a regular monthly schedule of blog posts
READING
I finished Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matthew Desmond late last night (part of the reason I was awake so late!). I highly recommend it.
I also finished a book my daughter had given me, Rooms of Their Own: Where Great Writers Write. The book featured the writing rooms of 50 writers. I generally read about one writer’s room per day. I really enjoyed this one!
I’m about half-way through The Well-Lived Life, this month’s LWD Book Club selection. I hope to finish it this week.
If you don’t already have Audible, you can get a free trial here. We’ve definitely been enjoying it on these long drives.
SELF CARE
I need to give myself a manicure and a pedicure this week. I got as far as removing my nail polish from my fingernails this morning and trimmed a few that had gotten too long. I’m also trying to get in the habit of using cuticle oil every day. I’ve got it on my desk as a visual reminder.
HEALTH & FITNESS
David and I are both trying to walk more. My goal is 30 minutes a day as you’ll see below in the LWD Habit of the Month for September.
FUN ACTIVITIES
David and I have started a new ritual for Friday nights — The O.C. and Cocktails. I well remember watching the very first episode of The O.C. while we happened to be house-sitting for my aunt and uncle in California. Serendipitous timing! It’s been years since David and I have watched the series but while we were in California recently we decided we’d like to watch it again. We watched two episodes this past Friday and had to exercise restraint not to watch a third. Chris came over while we were watching and it turns out he’s been re-watching the series, too! He’s on season three, though.
I didn’t do an “artist date” last week but I’m determined to make it a regular thing. In order for that to happen I need to schedule on my calendar as if it were an actual appointment. Otherwise it’s all too easy to put it off. I think this week my “artist date” will be to create a new Pinterest board with artist date ideas. Then I’ll make a list and start checking them off.
HABIT OF THE MONTH (September)
For the month of September, our LWD group challenge is to take a daily walk. I’m committing to a 30 minute walk every day but if you want to join, choose what’s right for you.
If you aren’t already in the group, here is the link:
