Anyone up for a fitness challenge? I’ve got a beach vacation to Belize coming up in November and I’m determined to up my fitness level a bit before then.
Every year we try to keep our envy in check while viewing our friends’ vacation photos on Facebook. There they are enjoying sunny Belize while we are snowed or iced in. Yep, all it takes for our area to experience a winter storm is for our friends to board a plane for Belize. It’s uncanny.
But this year we are going, too. They rented an entire resort and several people are going together. I can’t wait! I can just see myself lolling on the beach with a good book in one hand and an adult beverage in the other.
Then I recall what I look like in a swimsuit. Yikes.
There’s only so much that can be accomplished in a few weeks but I’m going to do my best. And I’d love to have you join me.
Here’s the way it will work:
You choose your own goal. A certain number of steps, distance or time…your choice. If you aren’t already walking as much as you’d like I recommend starting with your current level plus 10%. For instance, if you generally walk an average of 2500 steps per day, your goal would be 2750. If you usually walk 8000 steps a day, your goal would be 8800. It’s better to set a reasonable goal for yourself and stick with it than to get overly ambitious and quit after 3 days. We’ve all done that before, right?
I will be sending out daily email reminders. Some of these may just be a simple reminder but others will include helpful health or exercise information and tips. I will schedule these to go out at 5 a.m. CST. I recommend reading these each day and then delete ONLY after you have completed your walking goal for the day. It’s another incentive for those who like to keep their inbox under some semblance of order.
If you complete the entire month your name will be entered in a drawing for a prize. Yes, that’s a bribe. Or incentive. Whatever your prefer to call it. If you need additional help sticking with your goal, find an accountability partner. If you are in my Facebook group, Creating a Beautiful Life, you may find a partner there. If you can’t find one, let me know and I’ll do it with you. I want everyone to succeed.
So lace up your shoes and “walk with me”!
Note: If you’d like to join Creating a Beautiful Life, please feel free to do so. (Sorry guys, the Facebook group is for ladies only but you can still join the challenge.)

The “I’m not a doctor” part:
Of course it goes without saying (but I’m going to say it anyway), check with your doctor before starting any exercise program if you have health concerns.
