Today was the annual Amish auction in Clarita. Lisa and I went with our friend, Mary, as we had done last year. The weather couldn’t have been better – low 70s with a cool breeze. AND we remembered sunscreen this time.
We wandered through a large covered area of vendors and then opted to eat early. Mary had a ham and cheese sandwich on homemade bread, I had their famous chicken and noodles, plus some fries which I shared (carb loading – ha!), while Lisa, who had actually eaten breakfast, had a delicious homemade cinnamon roll. This turned out to be a good plan as the lines had tripled in length by the time we were through eating.
Next up: Quilts!
This one was made of one inch squares with tiny, hand-stitching:
This one was absolutely incredible:
This would look so pretty on my bed:
Just outside the quilt barn there is a house and they had enclosed an area for children:
They had a LOT of stuff set up to auction off, including this old trunk:
Wouldn’t it be a terrific pirate treasure chest?
We wandered and browsed to our hearts’ content and left just as it was starting to get a little warm. Here is what I bought:
Cinnamon rolls, fried pies, noodles, apricot jam, pepper jelly, set of 7 dish towels
(And a couple of items I can’t show because they will be Christmas gifts.)
Lisa and I each bought one of these cute pumpkins. They were only $8:
It was truly a perfect morning and we’ve already planned for the three of us to do it again next year. I’ll take my car next time because I just might want to buy some live chickens. And ducks. And I hope David doesn’t read this.
