Spring has sprung…

March 21, 2011 By Deanna Piercy 3 Comments

Yesterday was the first day of Spring and boy, oh boy! does that make me do a happy dance.  I took my camera outside this morning and captured a few glimpses of Spring especially for my readers who are still mired in last vestiges of winter.  I hope these pictures bring a smile to your face and put hope in your heart.

Hyacinth growing wild – at least I think that’s what it is.
My chickens enjoying the weeds I picked for them.
Pregnant kitty
Last of the blossoms on a pear tree
Kitties and irises

Faded daffodils and soon-to-be tiger lilies
Blooming dogwood tree
The first of the wisteria blooms

Saving the best for last:
All together now – aww!
Marigny had 5 kittens a few days ago.
“If you’ve never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom.” ~Terri Guillemets

Yeah, those baby kittens are so sweet!

The purple flowers in the beginning are usually called grape hyacinth, but they're muscari (I used to grow some in a old basket indoors.) They don't have the same heavenly scent of hyacinth, and in fact and unrelated. They're a close relation to lilies if I remember correctly.

Kalee: Thanks for the info about the flowers. Muscari. I wonder if I will remember that? 😉
