IN MY HOME:
REVIEW OF LAST WEEK
It feels like all I did last week was food related. I’m doing my mom’s grocery shopping along with my own and also bringing her some meals.
I did not get the snowflake ornaments on the tree as planned. I cleaned the downstairs bathroom, did laundry every day, kept up with dishes, picked up a large grocery order and attended a Zoom meeting for our nonprofit. I also did a bit more reading than usual which is a good thing.
THIS WEEK
I am participating in two online course/challenges this week which include daily live classes of about an hour each. I have a Zoom meeting at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning and will do a grocery pickup on Wednesday or Thursday. Because the courses take a total of 2 hours out of each day I’m not planning to do much more than my usual daily tasks. I might begin working on my office closets over the weekend. Maybe.
OFFICE
I have the aforementioned board meeting tomorrow morning. I never did do the nonprofit minutes last week so I hope to get to those. I have a blog post planned for later this week (book related!).
READING
I finished Cosy: The British Art of Comfort this past week and will likely finish A Tree Grows in Brooklyn today or tomorrow. Next up: Joyful, this month’s LWD Book Club selection.
I also have several books I read from each morning. Here are the ones I’m currently reading:
- The Bible (working through a series of 2-week guided tours)
- The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday
- Finding Your Own North Star by Martha Beck (been reading off and on for ages)
- poetry (I have 2 or 3 books I choose from each day)
- The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky (Chris and I are reading this together this year)
SELF CARE
I’m still struggling with sleep issues. Last night I read until about 12:15 a.m., fell asleep and then woke at 2 a.m. to go to the bathroom. And that was that. My brain kicked in with all sorts of plans. I *think* I dosed off for half an hour or so right after David left for work.
I appreciate the comments and emails some of you shared with me regarding sleep.
HEALTH & FITNESS
I’ve been so tired that the last thing I feel like doing is exercise. I do have a short routine I try to do most mornings. It isn’t much but I figure it’s better than nothing. I really need to figure out the best time to get on the treadmill because it hasn’t been happening.
FUN ACTIVITIES
Last Thursday, Chris and I watched the 2005 “Pride and Prejudice” film. I had not seen that version but enjoyed it. This Thursday I think we are going to watch “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn“. It’s my favorite book and I’m currently re-reading it. I think I’ve only seen the film once or twice and Chris has never seen it.
We will probably do a Zoom cocktail party with friends Saturday night if they aren’t busy.
HABIT OF THE WEEK
One of the challenges I’m participating in this week is Courtney Carver’s “Less Phone, More Life” digital detox. I’ve been in the habit of reading news on my phone at dinnertime and am looking to change that. David and Chris are usually doing something similar and we do discuss what we are reading. But still…it’s not my preference. I want to change that habit but it’s none of my business what the guys do. Still trying to figure this one out.
If you’d like to join the free challenge, here is the link:
Some of us in my Make Over Your Life With Dee Facebook group are doing the challenge and discussing it in our group. Feel free to join us!

Really late in here, because it’s been a busy week, and since i’ve not been feeling 100% I’ve mostly been sleeping between things. Anyway, hope you had better luck with Chris’ birthday dinner of choice this week, and that your week is going well.
I’m sorry you’re not feeling well. We opted out of sushi – again. Long story. One of these days, though!
Thanks. Sorry the sushi plan didn’t work out again.
We are going to give it a try again this Friday – ha!
