THIS WEEK WITH DEE
I truly miss taking my laptop to the coffee shop to do some writing but I’m doing my best to set a similar mood at home with my Paris Café candle burning, sipping a cup of Community Coffee and listening to Starbucks-inspired music. Join me?

IN MY HOME:
REVIEW OF LAST WEEK
I was just beginning to get things back on track following Lisa’s hospitalization then David decided to give us all a scare. He woke up with a sore throat Thursday morning, left without telling me and went straight to Urgent Care for a Covid test. It was negative but he tested positive for strep. He picked up his antibiotics and laptop then headed home. Strep is certainly less worrisome than Covid but I am allergic to all antibiotics so I definitely didn’t need to catch it.
I implemented my “quarantine plans” by moving my things downstairs and turning over the upstairs (our bedroom and bathroom) to David. For the next two days he stayed upstairs watching movies, doing a little bit of work and enjoying “room service”. I would fix his meals, put on my mask and bring them to his door. Fortunately he didn’t feel bad at all. No fever and the sore throat was gone by the next morning. He went in for a repeat Covid test Saturday just to be sure and was given the all-clear. We are vaccinated and always wear our masks but cases are rising rapidly here in Oklahoma. Better safe than sorry!
Other than the isolation (he referred to it as “time-out”) I think he kind of enjoyed having his meals served and watching movies for two days. I think he watched all the Hunger Games movies.
I spent part of Sunday washing sheets, remaking beds, and basically getting the house back in order.
THIS WEEK
As I said in last week’s post, I’m in maintenance mode until after AdaFest.
WORK
We have less than 2 weeks until AdaFest so my focus will be on social media and marketing until then. I think we have a meeting this Thursday, too.
READING
I ordered the August LWD book club selection, Down to Earth: A Guide to Simple Living, and received it this weekend. I haven’t finished Writers & Lovers yet but couldn’t resist beginning Down to Earth. Writers & Lovers is on my Kindle so I can read that in bed with the lights off. Down to Earth is paperback so that will be my morning and teatime read. Anyone else read more than one book at a time?
SELF CARE
Less time on screens and more time reading!
HEALTH & FITNESS
I’m determined to get back into the treadmill habit. I think I’ll give myself permission to only do 5 minutes. It’s the starting which I resist but I’m sure I’ll end up doing much longer once I’ve put on my shoes and socks.
FUN ACTIVITIES
We decided to postpone Jungle Cruise until this coming Sunday. I’m going to make a charcuterie board for us to snack on while we watch. Instead of Jungle Cruise we watched Best in Show last night. Chris has seen it multiple times but David and I had not. It was hilarious! It felt so good to laugh after recent stresses.
HABIT OF THE WEEK
Chris and I decided to focus on daily meditation again this week because we didn’t follow through very well last week. I think I only managed 2 days. But I did this morning so I’m off to a good start!

Sorry about the nasty scare with David, but glad it wasn’t anything worse. Wish I could have a few days of just watching movies while someone brought me my meals… I could have done with that, and still could to be honest.
Since I took a mental health day, and then didn’t completely return to doing things properly until yesterday, I have a load of things – both online and offline – to catch up on this week. I also have roleplaying tonight (Tuesday) and book club Friday. Plus, we need to do the monthly shop for Kelly’s food pretty soon, but I’m not sure exactly when that will happen – or even if it will happen at the end of this week, or some time next week – because he’s been having Dad take him to do it since we’ve been back in Wales, and my Dad’s car went in for its MOT yesterday, so we’re waiting to see how that goes and how long it takes (don’t know about over there, but slow turnarounds are normal in the more rural areas here in Wales, which is where we are now).
Anyway, here’s my menu for this week:
Monday: sesame tofu in hoi sin sauce, jasmine rice, barley, buckwheat, lentils, and broccoli.
Tuesday: zucchini rolls (vegan sausage rolls with a filling made using zucchini, avocado, nutritional yeast, salt, pepper, and sage) served with chips and peas.
Wednesday: ordering in (because Wednesday should be a pretty quiet day, so I want to be able to focus on using it to catch up on things, and takeout/food delivery is a good way to do that).
Thursday: chilli, baked potatoes, and green beans.
Friday: leftovers from Thursday.
Saturday: scrambled tofu, fried tomatoes, and hash browns.
Sunday: roast potatoes, mashed swede, and sprouts.

I agree. A day or two of movies with room service? Sounds great – ha!
Enjoy your week!

Sorry to hear about hubby’s scare, but glad all is well. I sometimes read 2 books at a time, but rarely. I am however reading Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnac again along with my thriller, but Simple Abundance is just a quick little read each day. My self care is my desk time. I like to read blogs and keep a silly little daily journal. Nothing very exciting, especially these days, lol…but I mostly like to doodle, note the key points of the day, write quotes I’ve seen that I like or write down some useful information I’ve found. But I mostly like doodling and making the pages pretty. I’ve always been thin, but I do like to walk. Too hot outside at the moment so need to get back on the treadmill as well. As you say, the hardest part is getting ON the treadmill. But then I end up walking more than I thought I would. Didn’t mean to write book! Take care! IG-Happyhomemaker62 ?

Simple Abundance is a great favorite of mine! I read the original version a couple of times years ago and then the new one last year. I loved having something so inspiring to read each morning.
