Got a little catching up to do after a couple of days with no internet! One thing about it, it’s pretty easy to avoid spending any money when you are iced in and can’t go anywhere. Tuesday night I made the following casserole for dinner: Spanish Rice and Bean Pie2 cans beans (pinto, red, black,…
This Explains a Lot…
These photos will help explain my blogging absence. A nice, thick layer of ice coated our wireless internet antenna rendering it useless for a couple of days.
Day Eight…
We are coping with an ice storm here in Oklahoma today and tomorrow. Thus far, we haven’t been hit very hard but there’s been a lot of moisture today and it’s sure to be icy tomorrow. We are currently safe and cosy at home with a nice fire in the fireplace and full tummies. For…
Sad Times on Apple Tree Farm…
We lost seven of our eight chickens last night and have absolutely no idea what happened. Their pen was secure and no evidence of how they got out. I’ll spare you all the details but suffice it to say, I’m pretty saddened by the loss. I also feel really sorry for the one remaining chicken….
Day Seven…
David had to go to town to wash his truck so he offered to pick up the items I needed. Here is what I sent him for: Braums (regional dairy store): cheddar cheese (8 oz.) – $1.591/2 gal. milk – $1.993 pk. tri-color peppers – $2.992 baking potatoes – $1.221 roma tomato – $.293 bananas…

Day Five…
Despite the challenge, we are eating quite well. For dinner tonight I made chicken breasts in Parisian wine sauce, glazed carrots, mashed potato casserole and a green salad. I sautéed the boneless chicken breasts (seasoned with garlic salt, pepper, Creole seasoning and Herbs de Provence) in a combination of olive oil and butter. When nearly…
Day Four…
My challenge is going well and I’m discovering all sorts of stuff in my freezer. Today I put some boneless beef ribs in the crockpot along with 1/2 an onion and some homemade bbq sauce: Beam Me Up BBQ Sauceketchupmustardliquid smokeworchestershire saucegarlic saucePickapeppa saucea little Jim Beam I had a meeting tonight right at dinner…
Day Three…
I ended up not even going to town for choir tonight because David was returning from his business trip and I wanted to be home. He ate on his way home from the airport and Chris and I did our own thing. I had some leftover rice from Monday night so I put some grated…
