I’ve been trying to declutter my house off and on for YEARS! In fact, I started this blog way back in 2006 with the idea I would chronicle the decluttering process. Little known fact: The original blog name was “Ponderings of a Packrat”. You can even read my very first post, if you are so inclined:
You might think that since I began decluttering almost 14 years ago I’d have it all done, right? Wrong. Despite all the stuff I’ve gotten rid of over the years we don’t seem to be much further ahead in the process. So I continue to chip away at it, bit by bit. Occasionally I get in “a mood” and make some serious progress. More often I’m just getting rid of a couple of things at a time. It’s definitely a process.
I know I’m not alone in this so I decided to put together a collection of decluttering resources for us all. I asked some of my blogger friends to share their best ideas and here they are. I hope you’ll find inspiration, motivation and practical suggestions in these posts.

Moving a lot has helped me keep the clutter sort of under control. It’s easy to find the motivation to declutter when you’re packing things anyhow, and know you’ll have to deal with unpacking them and finding them places to go when you get to the new place. ๐

Good point. We’ve been in this house 22 years so we’ve accumulated a lot. We plan to downsize sometime in the next several years so I am starting to ask myself, “would I want to move this?”.

I’m pretty sure I’ve never lived anywhere for longer than six years in my entire life. Most times it’s been less than that. So I’ve asked that question many times. It’s definitely a good way to get motivated to declutter.
