This afternoon I received a delivery. I’ve ordered several things for Christmas so I figured it was one of those. But it wasn’t. I opened the box and found the most gorgeous little bouquet of white roses and other flowers. Organic, even! The card said they were a little early Christmas present from my daughter…
Thanksgiving: Part Two
I do believe yesterday was the most relaxed, peaceful Thanksgiving we’ve ever had. In the past we have always gathered with my huge extended family to celebrate. And it’s always great to see everyone. However, the clan is so big that there are only a couple of cousins with homes big enough to host the…
Thanksgiving: Part One
I love Thanksgiving. No gifts to buy or major expectations other than a good meal shared with people we love. On Sunday we drove to Tulsa to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with my brother and his family. My sister-in-law’s parents, my parents, and my kids came up as well and we just had the most…
Putting anger to good use…
The other day I told someone that when I’m angry I clean house and that from the looks of things I had been in an awfully good mood for a long time. However, I think my house is going to be spic-and-span by the end of the day. I keep thinking that people who are…
Priorities…
My tree is still undecorated but some things are more important. Here is a glimpse of our Saturday. We went up to see my brother and his family to celebrate our niece’s birthday and an early Christmas. David and Modoc…chillin’ Wipe out! Merry Christmas! Happy birthday, Alyssa! Lisa loves Huck. A family of rockers Rock…
Deliver me…
When my aunt was a tiny little girl she misunderstood part of the Lord’s Prayer and rather than praying “deliver me from evil”, she prayed, “deliver me from people”. My grandfather, who was a bit of a character, loved this and chose not to correct her. There may be something to be said for her…
Stand By Me…
I’ve posted this wonderful video before but it’s worth a repeat. I have the Playing For Change cd and listen to it often. It never fails to make me smile. Today I had the unexpected pleasure of receiving a phone call from my very busy *little* brother. We must have talked 45 minutes or more,…
Our 4th of July…
One of my cousins hosted a 4th of July gathering today, complete with grilled burgers, games of horseshoes, soccer, sack races, three-legged races, fishing, skeet shooting, and just plain ol’ visiting. There were somewhere around 45 people, I would guess, and yet it was absolutely pleasant and peaceful. A very nice day.
From Easter past…
