How about a pre-autumn roundup? Sure, it’s still in the 90s here in Oklahoma but even so, I see hints of the season to come. The angle of light, earlier sunsets, and the beginning of color change in foliage. Oh, and we can’t forget ragweed. Atchoo!
It’s a well-known fact that I’m a summer girl through and through. The very thought of winter makes me shudder. However, I DO enjoy autumn. Let’s take a peek at what the coming season has in store for us.

Autumn Recipes:
The first cool front of fall makes me want to bake something. This oatmeal cake is on my list soon:
*note: I wrote this for The Glamorous Housewife but the blog is no longer available. I’ll be reposting this recipe here on Life With Dee soon.

We try to eat seasonally so this crockpot meal with cranberries and apples is a perfect way to say hello to fall:

Fabulous Fall Series:
Last year I did a 7-day fall series of posts here on Life With Dee. Here are the links:

Back in 2012 on my old Tea With Dee blog, I started a 31 Days of Autumn Nesting series. I only made it 21 days because we then left on a vacation. Click on the button below for the first post in the series, along with links to all the rest:

For the home:
Spring cleaning gets a lot of attention but I think there’s something to be said for fall cleaning, too.
Getting Cozy For Fall – pictures of my fall decorating from a couple of years ago
“With a life in the day of a Vintage Housekeeper in Autumn, a list of seasonal puttery treats, some advice for preparing for cooler weather at home, and adding a layer of cosy calm to your Autumn house alongside the three housekeeping recipes you need to give the house a hug, an Autumn reading list and a list of journaling prompts for meditating your way through this gorgeous season of so much promise…”
For Fun:
My Autumn Bucket List – This was my list from a few years ago. I’ll create a new one for this year soon.
My daughter and I will be taking our annual trip to the Clarita Amish Auction tomorrow. We love to look at all the quilts and other handmade items. And I always have to bring back some delicious cinnamon rolls!

Thanks for including some of my links! I’m ready for the cold front that is about to hit. Also ready to start decorating.

I’m ready for a decrease in pollen levels – ha!

It’s cooled down here, so it feels more like Autumn than it probably does for you.
There are things I love about all the seasons, but my favourite thing about Autumn is the crisp scent to the early mornings. You know the one I mean, right? That scent that tells you Winter is coming, but isn’t quite a frosty morning smell. Anyway, that one. I also love how the season seems to inspire people to try – and share – so many new recipes.
In late October or early November – on or around Halloween, basically – Hubby and I are planning to make pumpkin pasties and other foods that make us fhink of Autumn, and then watch some Halloween themed movies while we eat the stuff; we’re each picking one movie we’ve seen, and one we haven’t, so we’ll have four movies to watch. I’m not sure if we’ll watch all the movies in one day, and only have the food items last longer than that, or spread the movies over a few days too. Probably the latter, to be honest.
Deanna Piercy says
I love your movie idea! I think we should plan something similar.
Tori says
Apparently I spoke too soon on the cooled down thing… It’s just after midnight, and around 76F (having cooled down a fair bit from earlier).
Anyway… You should totally do the movie thing… Combine it with one of your date nights, maybe?
Deanna Piercy says
It got up into the 90s here today and the forecast is for mid to upper 80s for the next several days. I’m not complaining, though. We have air conditioning and I save my weather complaints for winter – ha!
I love the movie date night idea. Now we just need to decide on the movies.
