Welcome to the fourth week of November’s LWD Grocery Haul series in which I share our weekly grocery purchases, including prices. I’m always curious to see what others purchase and what food prices are in different countries or regions. I hope you are finding this series interesting and helpful.

LWD GROCERY HAUL
November 2024 ~ Week Four
It’s Thanksgiving week here in the U.S. so this week’s grocery order reflects that. I had already bought a turkey breast last week. David really likes ham so I figured I’d cook both since the leftovers freeze well (especially the ham).

Notes: Frozen veggies were on sale so I bought 8 bags for the freezer. I’m trying to evaluate my inventory and stock up for the winter.
One of the things I like to keep on hand are various types of pasta. I bought elbows this week because they were on sale. There are other types of pasta (spaghetti, penne, etc.) that will still be on sale for the next couple of weeks so I’ll buy some of those in the coming weeks.
One of the good things about keeping a well-stocked pantry is that you can wait until things are on sale to buy them.
It also pays to notice seasonal sales and stock up. I only bought one bag of fresh cranberries this week but I had bought two for the freezer last week. I’d like to put a few more in the freezer while they are available so you’ll likely see those on grocery hauls the next few weeks.
Our weekly menu…
We are already off-track. David and I went to Norman yesterday to buy me a new Prius. It took several hours and was dinnertime by the time we were through. We stopped at a favorite restaurant in Norman – Scratch – and had dinner on their heated patio. I had the Creole Seafood Pasta and David had Burgundy Braised Beef. They make the best spinach dip I’ve ever had so we had that and tortilla chips as an appetizer. This restaurant is also well-known for their craft cocktails. I had a Manhattan and David had a Sidecar. It was a lovely way to celebrate my new car!
I have “leftovers” written for Friday, Saturday and Sunday but haven’t specified exactly what I’ll do with them. We will likely make turkey or ham sandwiches and heat up the other leftovers on Friday and Saturday. I may make turkey and noodles on Sunday. I will also make Thanksgiving Sliders with some of the Hawaiian rolls at some point.
I’ll make a few plates of food for my mom and we’ll still have leftover ham and probably turkey for the freezer.
